What’s Next . . .

The theme for the Metropolitan Museum of art’s inaugural ball and fundraiser this year will be ‘sleeping beauties: reawakening fashion.’ The exhibit will center around 15 “historically significant pieces” that are too fragile to be worn and featured alongside them will be garments that have been inspired by those pieces throughout history.

Next month we will be exploring this topic further discussing the legacy of vintage garments that we reference so often, how they are featured and worn and NOT worn in modern fashion and entertainment. This will echo the theme of the Met Gala as we discuss lots of recently worn famous ‘reimaginings’. As well as the designer codes that allow those interpretations to carry on the spirit of the original designers and their creations.

Join us next month for this exciting topic as well how we can apply these themes to our own sewing projects whether you are doing your OWN Met gala interpretation, attending the met gala from your couch,  or you are looking to elevate your own home sewing.
